The larger group consists of several more specialized groups in order to meet the musical needs of all its members:
Young Children: Children as young as 1 year old join together for music and movement sessions, where they sing simple folk songs, play musical games and learn simple music theory within the context of communal music making.
Ages 8 to 10: Children learn music theory through the Catholic Academy’s graded music program and begin applying their knowledge immediately to simple songs and hymns.
Ages 11 and Up: Older students also participate in the Academy’s graded music program, but at a more advance level. These skills are directly applied to choral music spanning 1000 years.
Please contact Dr. Lucas Tappan if your child is interested in joining the Basehor/Kansas City Choir.
Chorister fees are currently $150 per child per semester.
